State Handloom Expo underway in Andhra Pradesh till Jan 15 Tirupati, Jan 3 (KNN) With the aim to provide a direct marketing platform to the weavers community, a State Handloom Expo was launched by District Collector K Venkataramana Reddy at Tirupati Shilparamam in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

The 14-day expo is being organised by the AP Shilparamam Society with the support of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

As per reports, around 60 weavers from across the country are participating in this event to showcase and sell their products to the consumers directly.

Addressing the occasion, Reddy said that the expo will provide livelihood to the weavers as people will now be able to buy products from different states at one place. “Such expos will help the weavers to sell their products directly without the involvement of middlemen,” he said.

Deputy Director in the office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) Anil Sahu took part as the special invitee, district tourism officer Rupender Reddy, Regional Director Ramana Prasad, Shilparamam Administrative Officer K Khadarvalli and others were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The handloom expo will conclude on January 15. (KNN Bureau)
