Amidst the rising cases coronavirus infection in the state, Ecommerce company Snapdeal on Friday said that, sales of disinfectant spray guns (used to sanitize door handles), automatic no-touch sanitizer dispensers have shot up from Goans over the last four weeks.

The online portal revealed 70 per cent growth in the demand for small bottle multipacks of 50-60 ml of hand sanitizers with one shopper from Panaji alone buying 150 small bottles of hand sanitizers. The company added that, steady growth is also witnessed in sales of clothes, water bottles, jugs, and other small items in the state.

“The demand for surgical mask multipacks has increased. PPE kits priced at Rs 500 per kit, which includes gowns, gloves, hoods, shoe covers, head caps, masks, and disposal bags have also picked up,??? said Snapdeal.

According to Snapdeal, the upcoming peak travel season and the government’s focus on reviving tourism in the state could be the two strong factors driving near-term demand. A company spokesperson said, that, demand for hygiene and safety items, especially sanitizers and disinfectants is expected to rise in Goa in the next three months. .

He said that, Goan shoppers are also ordering DIY products such as household hand toolboxes designed to meet multiple repair needs, wall-painting brushes, rollers and spray cans for miscellaneous painting works, garden toolkits comprising trowels (khurpi), clippers and forks. “The demand is driven by shoppers aiming to be self-reliant in undertaking basic repair work,??? said the spokesperson.

Snapdeal said that, it serves 104 pin codes in the state with the bulk of orders coming from Panaji, Margao, Mapusa, Vasco Da Gama, Ponda, Bicholim, Navelim, Calangute, Qupem, Verna, and Curchorem.
