KAIZEN is one of the benchmarked tools that not only enhances the growth of any organisation, but also uplifts the morale of the employees, setting a good example of employer employee relationships, as it calls for collaboration, commitment and teamwork from top to down. KAIZEN involves setting standards and then continually improving productivity, quality, safety, delivery and morale and reduction of maintenance and manufacturing cost. These can range from a very small improvement (leading to few hundreds of rupees saving) to a very large improvement (leading to crores of rupees saving). Usually KAIZEN ideas are given by the people from the shop floor. KAIZEN’S require little or no investment and at times lead to substantial savings or productivity improvement???.

To create an awareness of the KAIZEN practices in the industry, CII  organised the second edition of the KAIZEN competition- Goa state level  on October 23 over virtual webex. Yatish Kumar Mathur erstwhile head, operations, Force Motors, Gajanan Bhat, head quality, Siemens Ltd, and Gajendra Yadav, manager, operation, Pentair Water India, were jury for the competition.

At the inaugural Blaise Costabir, chairman, CII Goa, State Council welcomed the participants and encouraged the industry to participate in such programs to build the competitiveness of the industry. Many of the industries follow the KAIZEN philosophy. The second state level Kaizen competition, received  good response from the industries across Goa, despite the Covid situation.

Costabir, said that every participant is a winners not only for improving the performance of their respective companies but also for enabling India to place itself higher in its aspiration to become one of the leading economies of the world. Mahendra Wani, GM, Siemens and convenor of the CII Goa panel on manufacturing mentioned that so participation of companies itself justifies that companies are continually practicing quality tools which is a very good thing which ultimately results in delivering quality good to the end user. “This shows the enthusiasm of the participants & industry the love for KAIZEN, and I am glad that the message of KAIZEN is being spread deep across industries in Goa,??? he said.
